PINE is the eighth fragrance by the STORA SKUGGAN brand. This scent deviates from the brand's conceptual myths (inexplicable booming sounds, poisonous herbs harvested under the full moon or Gods sucking their thumbs) and, instead of a narrative, it focuses entirely on a single note. In perfumery, this type of fragrance is called a soliflore, a term derived from a type of vase designed for a single flower. In this case... a vase that holds a massive tree.

Pines are the most abundant organisms on the planet, measured by biomass. They can reach heights of up to 100 meters and are also among the largest living beings. They are also among the oldest. The 4856-year-old bristlecone pine in the White Mountains, called Methuselah, is the oldest known living single plant, while the spruce Old Tjikko in Sweden’s Dalarna has a clonal root system that is twice as old. Pines first evolved more than 300 million years ago, making them older than both the dinosaurs and the North Star.
While the concept of this fragrance is minimalist, the scent itself is robust, designed to evoke all aspects of pine. From the fresh, fragile shoots to the sweet, sacred-smelling sap, to the dry woody aroma of bark and dry needles.

The Stora Skuggan perfume brand was created in 2015 by a group of young alternative alchemists. Olle Hemmendorff and Tomas Hempel set out to create a company where freedom can be achieved in every aspect of creation: from fragrance formulation to packaging and branding.

Stora Skuggan fragrances are derived from an autonomous identity closely linked to the tradition of craftsmanship, where the creative process becomes the basic concept of each perfume. In addition, its founders come from an art and design background, which guarantees continuous experimentation with unique results. The inspiration for the individual Stora Skuggan perfumes comes from places, feelings, emotions and everything that moves the mind.
And where exactly did the brand name come from? Stora Skuggan means "big shadow" in Swedish, it is also the name of a famous park in the center of Stockholm, the city where Stora Skuggan is located.
